Joe Rust is a passionate entrepreneur and strategic leader with deep roots in rural Indiana. As the youngest of thirteen, he grew up in Seymour, where he developed a strong work ethic, a collaborative spirit, and a drive to uplift his community.
A Purdue University graduate with a degree in Agribusiness Management, Joe’s leadership journey began early, serving as Student Body President. He launched his career through the Orr Fellowship at KSM Consulting before founding Set Sail Services, a management consulting firm focused on helping organizations launch and scale new initiatives.
Joe played a key role in scaling Egglife Foods, one of the fastest-growing CPG companies in the country. In the company’s early stages, he took on leadership roles across procurement, R&D, sales, and sales operations—driving national account expansion and helping Egglife surpass $20M in annual sales in less than three years.
Today, Joe serves as the Launch Manager for SPARK Jackson County, leading efforts to empower local entrepreneurs and drive rural innovation. He has built programs that connect founders with funding, mentorship, and resources to accelerate business growth in Indiana. In addition, he is the founder and president of the Chasing Bubbles Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers young dreamers through sailing and adventure.
Joe also co-founded SPARK Capital, a mission-driven investment platform that acquires small-town businesses from retiring owners and pairs them with emerging talent to preserve local values, create jobs, and keep wealth in the community.
Joe is married to Sharyl, and together they have two boys, John-Paul and Gabriel. They recently moved back into Joe’s childhood home outside of Seymour, Indiana.
